Weird Beard

Honestly don't know how I feel about the absence of the full stash here, but I'm mysteriously intrigued. After pursuing a professional basketball career and injuring himself, Stalley moved from Ohio to New York to pursue music. In 2008, he collaborated with fellow Ohio native, Terry Urban, on the mixtape release "Goin Ape" in addition with opening for Mos Def on tour. Currently Stalley has been working with ALIFE and GFCnewyork.This much is true: Homie's beard is popular enough to push some serious product, and steps away from my front door at that:

This busy beard has also recently released his 2nd project titled "MadStalley: The Autobiography" where he pens his journey and experiences over re-worked Madlib productions.

From an initial listen to his recorded albums vs. the live sessions I've seen, his recorded music leaves something to be desired, while you don't want to miss his heart-throbbing, beard busting, good karma of seeing him perform in the flesh:

Hip Hop Beard

Drumming prodigy Questlove has been throwing down on the beard AND sound tip for quite some time now. I've been kind of secretly dying to go check out his 4-week DJ Residency at Brooklyn Bowl but sadly did not make it before it ended. Luckily his recent project, a Broadway musical about the legendary Fela Kuti, has him working with Jay-Z among others, when he's not busy on the Jimmy Fallon show. Coupled with his amazing growth of facial stamina, it's captured enough of my interest to warrant a trip to Broadway soon.

"Early in its run Ahmir (Questlove) Thompson, the drummer for the Roots — the long-running hip-hop group that is now the house band for “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” — saw an early preview that prompted him to write a post for his mailing list and his blog declaring “Fela!” to be “the BEST MUSICAL EVER CREATED.” Celebrities, from Alicia Keys to Susan Sarandon to Stephen Sondheim to Jay-Z, began showing up nightly; word of mouth spread exponentially.

Longtime Broadway producers wanted to sign on, but Mr. Hendel was leery of pressures that they might bring to make the show “more quote Broadway unquote,” he said. Now Jay-Z is among the producers, and Mr. Thompson is an associate producer. A rebellious, police-taunting, raunchy, politically conscious, dope-smoking character like Fela could easily make headway in hip-hop culture — and he has the beats to back him up."

Mad Men Beard **UPDATE**

Golden Globes revealed more than just my man John Hamm with a beard, apparently more of the stunningly good looking cast has followed suit. And amazing suits they are.
Even better is the post interview video with the cast, just following their win. I'd say a large majority of this is beard coverage. This will be one of the rare times I thank the press.

Mystery Online Beard

Ok, so apparently I'm not the only one who has been noticing this guy literally pop up all over the web. Who ARE you? WHY are you there? Of all places? It's news to me that hairy men have trouble managing their bills. Still caught my eye, though. ;)

Mad Men Beard

Jon Hamm, you made it. And you are now THE PERFECT MAN. I almost lost my SH*** when I first caught glimpse of you in this pic. PLEASE let this be a prediction of what's to come in Season 4. I will need to buy a projection TV if that's the case. ;)

Surfer Beard

George Gorrow, cofounder of Ksubi (and, well, awesome), shows off a pair of his sunglasses to the Selby. He.Is.Down.Right.Dreamy. Period. I also kind of love that him and his partner in crime, Dan Single, both Aussie, released live rats onto a runway at one of their fashion shows.

George: My greatest inspiration comes from two places: The first is friendships and family. The second is travelling. I have many inspirational friends whose vigour pushes boundaries their particular fields. You get so much out of anyone who's passionate about what they do and it's infectious. I'll bounce art off a musician, fashion off a movie director. Everyone has a different perspective and take on things. I love examining life from different angles, and the feeling like I need to pull my socks up.

Culture shocks are just that! They shock you into new ways of thinking and living. I recently went to Morocco and became infatuated by the ancient Buriburi men. They lived in the mountains separating Morocco from the Sahara - the border of Africa but there is no African influence. I found the most amazing decorative dresses and handcrafted artefacts. That just took me to another place.
